A Video about Crow Garlic

, , ,

My first crow garlic video, please bear with me and I’m sure I’ll get better with practice.

A short talk about foraging for Crow Garlic, how to recognise it, and how to bring it home and use it. Including looking for the dark-olive colour and height/stiffness of the blades (compared to grass), looking for the bulbs, recognising the smell from crushing the blades, or from bringing the plant into a sheltered area

I have crow garlic growing in my garden , lots of it , it produces a flower also , bit like a snowdrop but the smell is very garlicky . Are there different types of crow garlic , and yes it does have the white bulby bits . Very overpowering smell .

      Hi Ruth.
Crow Garlic has a small purple flower around the stem like chives.
What you’ve got sounds more like 3-cornered leek, or possibly few-flowered leek another type of wild garlic (see below for 3 cornered leek).
The top tip is, in the UK if it smells of garlic, it is!
