Foraging walks

For Medicine

Almost all modern medicines were originally derived from plants and fungus; Wouldn’t you like to understand the medicinal value of plants?

For Food

It’s only once you’re out and about with an experienced and knowledgeable guide that you realise just how much edible plants, trees and fungus that there is all around us.

For Health

Being outside is good for you and eating fresh food is good for you and the planet.

Lost Knowledge

Our ancestors knew which plants could help to resolve specific issues. Animals have an instinct for self-medication. We’ve largely forgotten how to do this, but a few of us are trying to continue spreading the knowledge.

Motivation

Whether you’re looking to prepare for the decline of civilisation, to reduce your food bills and your impact on the planet, or you just want to introduce some wonderful new flavours to your daily meals, foraging is the activity for you.

Mindfulness

Foraging is by definition a mindful activity. Once you’re learnt to forage, your walk to get to point B in 10 minutes will take the best part of an hour and you’ll arrive refreshed and relaxed.

Herbal Preparations

Not all herbs are the same. Different herbs suit different preparations. Not everything can be eaten raw, nor prepared as a tea, nor infused as a tincture.

Staying safe

Not everything out there is safe to eat just because it’s “natural”. Indeed, there are both plants and fungus out there that could cause serious illness and even death. What better reason to learn which is which?

All-round Wellbeing

Exercise, the positive effects of a fresh, nutritious diet, medicinal benefits, all contribute to our wellbeing and health; and all can be gained from foraging.

What Clients Say

Many thanks for the information you gave us. I hope that it will help me to understand more about those plants and to use them in my normal life. I notice there are still so many things to catch with experience, mainly about how to identify the correct plant, and what exactly to do with what part of it etc.
Hope to be able to meet you again.

Thanks for for an incredibly informative and enjoyable day learning with you on Sunday. I had no idea what treasures were hidden right under our noses in Golders Hill Park! I learned a lot and am eager to keep learning more.
The foods that you prepared and shared with us were absolutely amazing! We really enjoyed sampling everything and I know a huge amount of work must go into preparing everything. It was a very special feast and we’re so grateful for the time and effort you put into it.
Just yesterday morning I was thinking, I could really use a warm cup of dandelion root tea right now! I was so pleasantly surprised to see that you sell some of the foraged foods and we’ll be putting in an order shortly.

Thanks so much for the follow up and sending through all the info as promised. I really enjoyed the foraging last Saturday, such a great way to start the weekend and I learnt so much. It’s one thing to know all the chemistry and application of the plants but nothing quite beats getting out there and seeing them in person.
