Cheap, Simple, and Powerful Web Hosting

Only for members of the Association of Foragers

There are 2 basic things you need for a website:

A Domain

A domain, you may have also heard it called a web address, a URL, site address etc.

It may be something like domain.com, website.co.uk, foraging.org, wildfood.net, or similar.

Generally speaking, whilst different types of domains cost different amounts, where you buy them from doesn’t make a lot of difference.

A Host

The host part is where the content, structure, and all the whizzy bits of your website are stored. All the stuff you see when you look at a website, that’s all on a host somewhere.

The domain tells your computer/smart phone where to find the website.

The domain and the host don’t need to be with the same company, but it’s quite common to have them with the same provider.

So what can I do for you?

My plan is to supply cost-price hosting to any members of the Association of Foragers to support our community.

You can choose from hosting only, and write your own HTML code (if you have nothing better to do!), or you can install a WordPress site (this is what I do for mine), or you can use the AI website creator to create a website for you which you can then edit using the really simple website editor website.

I can also source a suitable domain for you, or if you already have one you can leave it where it is and point it at your new site (I’ll help you get that done), or you can transfer it to my site (also, with my help).

How can I do this?

Well, in my previous life as a techies nerd, one of the things I did was exactly this – on a commercial basis.

I wound the business down, and all but one clients have moved on since.

Now I find myself with a bucket-load of webspace for my few websites, so I have space and the capability to host hundreds of websites. Because I have this already just sitting there unused, it means that I can offer it out and a very low price and it means that you’ll always be dealing with someone you know, rather than a bot or someone from a call centre who has no idea about your business.

How Much?

Domains

Honestly, there’s no way I can beat the pricing of the big companies.

What I can do is get you a new domain with the same deal that Hostinger currently offers, with no markup,

Or you can keep your domain where it is, and I’ll help you to arrange the settings so it works with your new website,

Or come renewal time, you can transfer the domain and again it’ll be at the standard price with no markup from me.

As a guide, at the time of writing, Hostinger prices are something like this:

  • .com is £4.99 for the first year, then £13.99 a year.
  • .co.uk is £2.99 for the first year, then £8.99 a year,

Hosting

This is where I can give you some serious savings:

  • Unlimited web space for your site, emails, and basic support – £48 per year or £4 per month

Web Design

If you choose to create your own website, whether that is from scratch, with WordPress, or with the AI website creator, there’s no further cost but I’ll support you as much as I can.

If you want it just done for you, I can create:

  • 6 web pages and a shop with up to 10 items for £100
  • Other amounts/combinations, we can talk about it.

What’s So Special About Me?

Well I’m an all-round super hero, obviously.

But let’s talk about the whole websites thingy:

  1. These prices are what you pay and within reason, fixed. Some sites will tempt you in with £3.99 a year, but then after a year it goes up to £6.99 (or £7.99 if you pay monthly).
  2. Free SSL with every website (that little padlocky thing in the address bar that tells you a site is secure – pretty essential nowadays).
  3. Support from someone who understands your business, not some faceless bot or call centre.
  4. I’m not doing this to make a profit. If I can cover my costs and provide a useful service to my friends and colleagues, that’ll do for me. If everyone likes it, maybe I’ll expand to other outdoor activity providers and become a millionaire – but probably not, eh?
  5. Finally, and maybe most importantly. If you can’t afford this, just let me know. Being part of a community means that I’m open to barter if you don’t have the cash. Being short of money shouldn’t be an obstacle to making money and spreading your gift.

Don’t Just Take My Word For It…

You may know a fellow member, Colin Unsworth – The Naked Forager?

Colin moved his website, www.foresthorizons.co.uk over to my hosting platform, and also www.nakedforagingday.org too, and this is what he had to say about the experience:

How Do You Get Started?

Drop me an email at gavin@foundfood.com or give me a call and we’ll get started.

As I am very much a one-man band, I’ll onboard people on a first come first served basis.
